Physical Education

Facilities 

There are 2 sports halls, one on each campus. On the lower campus there is an Astroturf hockey pitch and an all weather hockey pitch, which transforms to an athletic track during the athletics season. There are also 4 tennis courts and a fitness suite. On the upper campus there is a cricket pavilion, shooting range and 4 rugby pitches. One of these pitches is held off site.

Key Stage 3

During Key Stage 3, pupils have 2 periods of PE per week. At this level pupils will increase fitness levels, develop skills and acquire an overall knowledge of different sporting activities.

A Level

Pupils have the option to select PE at AS and A2 level.  They follow the AQA syllabus.  They develop an understanding of the physiological and psychological aspects of sport and physical education. There are six modules in all, including two coursework modules. Three modules are completed in each year.

Games

All pupils receive two compulsory periods of PE a week. In these games periods pupils’ main sports are concentrated on to help them further develop their skills and in a lot of cases get pupils involved in a team sport.
