Young Enterprise
What is Young Enterprise?
Young Enterprise
is a UK registered charity on a mission to "inspire and equip
young people to learn and succeed through enterprise". Each
year, 291,000 young people like you get a head start on their
working lives while they are still at school or university. They
do this by taking part in a Young Enterprise programme where
they gain knowledge and skills for business and enterprise
either through a series of workshops and seminars or through
setting up and running their own real company.
We believe that learning should be fun, exciting and hands-on,
and we run our range of programmes on a learning-by-doing
principle. Whether that means you get to set up and run your own
business or you get to meet and learn from real entrepreneurs
and business people, either way there is a Young Enterprise
programme for every stage of your time in education.

Young Enterprise in RSD
Each year, 25 pupils in Lower Sixth in RSD are offered the
opportunity to set up and run their own company for the duration
of the school year. This provides a real insight into the world
of business as it is the pupils themselves who take on the role
of Directors, sell shares to raise capital, carry out market
research, contact suppliers, keep financial accounts and make
all the major decisions. A Business Advisor from a local firm is
attached to each company and their role is to provide advice and
assistance where necessary. Young Enterprise members are also
given the opportunity to study for an OCR Level 2 Certificate in
Enterprise.
