On Thursday 15th November, the five Royal Schools participated in the annual 1608 Royal Schools Debating Competition. The competition was hosted this year by Royal School Cavan.
We had two teams this year; Joseph Hamill and Catherine Boyd as well as Matthew McNeill and Rebecca Rocha-Elliott. Rebecca and Matthew progressed effortlessly to the semi finals (where they debated arguing that Trump does not pose a threat to our security!) and were unfortunately put out at the last minute by the judges.
Both teams worked well- the debates proved to be a major success and were thoroughly enjoyed by those involved.
