Dr Basil McNamee

Everyone associated with the Royal School Dungannon will be saddened to learn of the death of Dr Basil McNamee. Dr McNamee was a great friend of the school, serving on the Board of Governors between 1978 and 2001. He was also a distinguished Chairman of the Board for three years between 1990 and 1993. A fine cricketer, Dr McNamee regularly turned out for the Leprechauns CC team against the RSD 1st XI and he played for Dungannon over 300 times, captaining the side on many occasions. His contribution to the game was acknowledged with his appointment as President of Cricket Ireland in 2010-11. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr McNamee’s family and friends and especially his three sons, Peter, Andrew and Michael.
