Pupils at the Royal School Dungannon have achieved excellent GCSE results in this summer’s examinations, with 2 out of 3 grades at A*-B and 94% of all grades at A*-C.

34/103 pupils returned at least 5 A*/A grades. Amy Doran and Sheelyn Gallagher led the way, each returning an impressive 9 A* grades plus 1 A grade. Marcus Lam scored 7 A* grades plus 3 A grades, Angela Tran 5 A* and 5 A grades, and Carla McCammon 4 A* and 6 A grades, while Hayden Yim achieved 8 A* grades plus 1 A and 1 B grade. 

Hannah Kelly, Emma Beattie, Horace Cheung, Kathryn Kane, Emma McCreedy and Chloe Potter all returned A*/A grades in 9 subjects within their overall totals, while Aaryak Kher, Nia Chung, Ruby Gilpin, Lucy Morrow and James Pan all scored 8 A*/A grades within their overall totals.

Amelia Cybulski, Rebecca Kerr, Maisy Montgomery and Hannah Smith all achieved a combination of 7 A*/A grades in their overall totals; and Gustas Almonaitis, Maja Anderson, Hannah Davidson, Ryan Hetherington, Madison Weir, Saree Yau, and Bobby Mann all scored a combination of 6 A*/A grades in their overall totals. Louis Chan, Emily Clarke, Armandas Kaminskas, Adrija Matuseviciute, Chloe Morrow and Annabel Wylie each achieved 5 A grades in their overall totals. 

Year 11 pupils completed examination modules in a range of subjects and returned excellent results which will form the basis for further success in the GCSE examinations next summer.

The Headmaster, Dr David Burnett, congratulated the pupils for their achievements. “Five years ago, this cohort of pupils joined RSD after long spells of Covid lockdown disruption. It would have been understandable if they felt a bit bruised by it all and their confidence knocked. But they have done so well to bounce back and build their knowledge and skills across a large range of subjects, growing in confidence step-by-step. We are all delighted for the pupils who have worked so hard, listening to their teachers and being so well-supported by their parents. All their hard work has paid off and they deserve huge congratulations for all their achievements. My thanks go also to my teaching colleagues who have not only taught the pupils so well in their academic subjects but worked with real commitment to boost pupils’ confidence and belief in themselves, often in an activity outside the classroom. Their support and guidance are hugely appreciated, not least by the pupils themselves. My congratulations to everyone involved and, of course, especially to the pupils!”
