Hockey Review | January 2023

At the beginning of January the 1XI hockey team played Strathearn in the Senior Schools Cup. This was a very tight game finishing 0:0. Unfortunately the team lost 3:0 on run ins and narrowly missed out on progressing to the quarter finals of the Schools cup. At the end of January they then faced Wallace High School in the quarter finals of the Shield. Once again, a very tight game ended in a draw, final score was 3:3 with goals from Molly Watt and Leah black (2). This resulted in penalty runs, after 5 penalties the score was tied 2:2 and it went to sudden death. Molly Watt scored her sudden death penalty which, followed by a save of Wallace’s penalty by Laura Birnie meant the 1XI progressed to the semi finals of the Senior shield. A fantastic achievement and great team efforts from the 1XI!

In the quarter final of the McDowell shield the 2XI faced Larne Grammar. An excellent performance resulted in a 2:0 win with goals from Chloe Johnston and Emma Reid and the team progressed to the semi finals of the Shield!

The U14A team played friendliest January against Royal school Armagh, winning 2:1 with goals from Erin May Mcreedy and Evie Girvan and Killicomaine JHS unfortunately losing 3:1. In the Junior Schools Cup quarter final against Sullivan Upper School the team recorded a 4:2 win, an amazing result, they then progressed to the semi finals of the cup!

The U13s also played friendlies against Royal school Armagh and Killicomaine JHS

The U13A lost to RSA and the U13Bs won 6:0 against Killicomaine.

Well done to all teams that have progressed to the semi finals!
