Katrina earns filming opportunity with BFI and Cinemagic

Katrina Cairns (Year 14) recently applied for and earned a place on The BFI Film Academy Network Programme, through Cinemagic. This is a programme for young, aspiring film makers.

“The BFI Film Academy Network Programme through Cinemagic is a Northern Irish programme where around twenty aspiring film makers are given the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals while creating a short film. The course takes place from September 2018 to January 2019 and contains workshops, masterclasses and real hands-on experience making a film. For the course the participants are required to create a personal website to exhibit all of the work completed within the course, this has proven to be a difficult but extremely beneficial part of the course as it has given me an online portfolio for the rest of my career. Although I have only just begun the course I have already hugely developed my skills as a filmmaker and have found many new friends. I am very excited to complete the course and to create a short film with my team.”

Katrina Cairns

This is a great achievement for Katrina; there were only 23 young people in N.I. selected to take part this year. We wish her all the best as the programme continues.
