Meet the Team

The Boarding Department is home to 30 boys and 27 girls, cared for by a large team of staff who work together to ensure high standards of care are provided for all. RSD Boarding has a very vibrant atmosphere with a clear ethos of making all boarders feel relaxed and at ease in a homely environment.

The Boarding staff consists of the Head of Boarding, who is responsible for the overall running of the Boarding Department, an Assistant Head of Boarding and a team of Boarding Staff made up of teaching and non teaching staff with boarding responsibilities, a team of matrons (covering day and night duties) and a team of tutors from our sister school in New Zealand, the Dilworth School.

Boarding

The day school teaching staff help to supervise evening prep alongside boarding staff, and collectively they provide lots of support for boarders and ensure a high standard of care.

Medical and dental facilities are close by and matrons ensure that any dental or health issues are dealt with promptly and efficiently.

There is a consistent focus upon ensuring high levels of medical and pastoral care, academic support and guidance on how to enjoy life in Boarding.

There is also a Boarders’ Committee, consisting of boarders and boarding staff, which meets regularly to discuss issues and suggest improvements. This is a key way for pupils and staff to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard and new ideas explored.

Most recently, the committee has focused upon revamping the menus for evening meals and breakfast and this has led to significant investment in kitchen facilities, equipment and ingredients and the appointment of additional staff in the kitchen. RSD boarding is all about working together to create the best experience possible!
