RSD was delighted to welcome Captain Preet Chandi, otherwise known as Polar Preet, to school recently. Captain Chandi completed an unsupported expedition to the South Pole in 40 days over Christmas. The expedition involved her travelling 700 miles, pulling a pulk (sledge) with all of her kit, battling temperatures of up to -50°C and wind speeds of up to 60mph. She made a presentation to Year 10 pupils about her trip and as well as explaining how the trip went, she used the opportunity to explain one of her key beliefs that “Nothing is impossible”. In the context of her trip she explained that with careful planning, attention to detail, ignoring what other people think of us, self-belief and determination can lead people to achieving their ambition and “nothing is impossible”.
