A Warm Welcome

At Royal School Dungannon our focus is on the pupil and we invite you to sample pupil life at RSD.

I feel cared for

We understand the needs of our pupils and we provide exceptional pastoral care via a dedicated team of professional and caring staff.

FamilyWorks, our school counselling service, has offered to continue to work remotely with RSD pupils.  For more information please visit our Pastoral Page.

RSD Boarding

At RSD our aim is to ensure that boarding is an enjoyable experience and that the boarding environment helps boarders to develop academically, spiritually, physically and emotionally.

I feel welcomed

We work hard to ensure that entering RSD as a new Year 8 pupil is both an exciting and reassuring experience.

I feel confident

We provide a safe and caring environment where pupils have the opportunity to develop their self-confidence and reach their academic potential in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

I feel a sense of belonging

Our House System complements the pastoral work of the Heads of Year and Form Tutors and contributes to the pupils’ sense of belonging to the school community.

I feel proud

Pupils are expected to wear their uniform with pride and to understand that they represent the School and are promoting its identity.

I am learning

The focus at RSD is on learning. We value knowledge and help all pupils to have a sound understanding of the subjects they study.

I am discovering

Our curriculum is a blend of traditional subjects from the Sciences, Arts, Humanities and Languages alongside more practical and contemporary subjects.

I am progressing

We monitor the academic progress of all pupils during each Key Stage. The focus is on helping pupils and parents to understand where a pupil is in terms of his or her learning in each subject.

I am achieving

At RSD pupils fulfil their academic potential. Performance is consistently above the average figures for both UK and Northern Ireland schools.       GCSE Results A Level Results
Summer Term 2020

Summer Term 2020

Dear RSD Pupils, I hope you had an enjoyable time with family over the Easter holiday period. It was strange to finish last term as we did and even stranger to have a lockdown Easter and the start of the summer term without the usual buzz around school life.

SCHOOL CLOSURE UPDATE. 18th March 2020 at 8.30pm

SCHOOL CLOSURE UPDATE. 18th March 2020 at 8.30pm

The NI Executive have announced that schools in NI will close from Monday 23rd March. There is no defined time period for closure but they indicate this will be a long-term closure, probably through to the summer holidays and possibly beyond. It is essential, therefore, that parents and pupils prepare for an extended period of time out of school and the necessity for ‘distance learning’ via online resources. RSD will operate for the next two days as planned: Thursday 19th March – RSD open as usual for all pupils and staff. Friday 20th March – RSD open for Year 14 only and all staff. Monday 23rd March – RSD CLOSED. A full update has been emailed this evening to the RSD community.
