The Rotary Youth Leadership Development Competition provides opportunities for emerging teenage leaders to be recognised for their extra-curricular activities and the skills gained from these. On Tuesday 10th October, three Year 13 pupils, Abbie Ballantine, Emily Carson and Dion Di Maio participated in the first round of interviews in the competition. In total, there were eleven participants representing four different schools from the locality. As part of the interviews, students were asked to comment on their leadership experience outside of the school environment as well as the work of Rotary at both an international and local level. To gain an interview was a success in itself, having filled out an application form at the outset of the process.
RSD’s Emily Carson was successful at this stage of the competition, winning the Dungannon heat. This was an excellent achievement and we wish her well as she now progresses to the Regional Finals to be held on Tuesday 28th November in Ranfurly House.
