Regent HS 4 – 3 RSD

RSD entered the U18 (NI) School boy cup again this year, being drawn away to Regent HS. The team started strong pushing forward Isaac Sloss high up the pitch, with his work rate putting the opposition defence under pressure. This resulted in Harry Gray scoring from outside of the box, with a precise drive finding the top left corner. After this Regent started to settle into the game, with RSDs defence under constant pressure for most of the half; this finally paying off for Regent when RSD gave away a penalty. However, RSD goalkeeper Joel Dickey made an excellent save keeping the score at 1-0. RSD faced more pressure after this as Regent were pushed for an equaliser, however, it was RSD who scored the 2nd of the match just at the end of the half; Harry Hayes scoring from close range from a Steven Scott corner.

In the second half Regent looked the sharper and started brightly. RSD unfortunately gave away another penalty, after a ball over the top which Regent slotted home leaving the game at 2-1. RSD responded well with Isaac Sloss (who was a constant threat) scoring from a well worked free kick by Steven Scott. This was short lived though with Regent almost scoring directly from a corner shortly after all but for excellent defending from Nathan Ewart, who unknowingly cleared the ball off the line. With 15 minutes left Regent won another penalty which they scored leaving the scores at 3-2. After this Regent took off and created many chances and as RSD tired finally brought the game level at 3-3 with another long ball. With a couple minutes left the Regent replacements reinvigorated their front and provided them with the winner.

A very entertaining game and one the players can be proud of. RSD now move into the subsidiary cup.
