On Saturday 20th January, RSD traveled to Grosvenor Grammar school to play the 3rd round of the Danske Bank Schools’ Cup.
RSD went into the game with a intense warm up and organised game plan. RSD started well with a good run from the kick off putting pressure on the Grosvenor pack. Thanks to great work from the forwards, RSD were awarded a penalty in the 22 which was slotted home by Luke McMullan. RSD brought the game plan into action with a low driving maul which allowed Jono Shrestha to get over the line, unconverted. RSD kicked off and put pressure on GGS straight away, this led to mistakes from GGS which were soon capitalised on by RSD. The RSD pack put together a number of phases which eventually allowed James Wilson to get over the line. RSD found themselves in the GGS 22, an impressive line break from Ben Nicholl allowed Adam Evans to snipe over for RSD’s third try. Conversion by Luke McMullan.
After rigorous defending from RSD and being a man down with Joel Stewart yellow carded, GGS scored making it 20-7. In the dying minutes RSD put in the last shift and were awarded a penalty straight in front of the posts after great work from Jack Girvan at the break down. Luke McMullan penalty.
