RSD Year 8 Admissions – Temporary Variation for September 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

You may recall that we have applied to the Department of Education to increase our number of Year 8 places from 93 to 100 places in two different ways. First, for a permanent change through a Development Proposal (not yet decided) and for a temporary change for 2020 and 2021 through the Additional Places scheme, which was unfortunately not accepted.

A third mechanism for increasing admissions numbers is Temporary Variation. This is a process which applies only for one year and is decided by the Department of Education on a case-by-case basis. We have received a large number of applications for both boarding and day places and, as a result, we applied through the Temporary Variation scheme for 7 additional places. I am delighted to say that we have been notified that our application has been accepted and we will be allowed to admit 100 pupils into Year 8 in September 2020.

All P7 families will receive notification of their school placement by letter from their post-primary school on Saturday 30th May 2020.
