On Tuesday 29th October 19 RSD and 2 St Patrick’s College GCSE and A-Level Spanish pupils set off early in the morning to travel to Salamanca, Spain with the MFL department.
Pupils and staff were accommodated in the Mester Academy, where they received beneficial and very fun Spanish lessons with native Spanish teachers each day! After class there was a wide range of activities including a guided tour of the city, a salsa class (which made us all laugh!), a visit to the local cathedrals, a tapas tour, a very insightful trip to the indoor market, a Mediterranean cooking class and a photo treasure hunt. There was also plenty of free time for shopping or for coffee and churros! The Spanish economy will certainly have benefitted from this trip!
Pupils and staff had an amazing time and this gave us a great opportunity to be able to practice our Spanish with real Spanish people and see that they could understand and respond to us! The trip was really enjoyed by everyone who took part!
Thank you to the Mester academy for providing our accommodation, food and classes. Thank you also to the teachers: Mrs Stitt, Mrs McCormick and Mr Curry for all of the organising which went on behind the scenes. We hope this trip will take place again in a few years!
