We have received communication from the Department of Education that due to anticipated severe weather conditions, all schools in Northern Ireland are required to close tomorrow (Friday 24th January 2025). Therefore RSD will be closed tomorrow, Friday 24th January 2025.
The Chief Executive of the Education Authority has asked that schools should put plans in place today for remote learning so that pupils can study at home so the RSD teaching staff have been asked to publish work on Google Classroom and in some cases, it may be appropriate for there to be online lessons through Google Meet for all or part of the normal timetabled time for a class.

All Pupils
Sports Fixtures: At the moment, Saturday sports fixtures are expected to go ahead but pupils should check their normal notifications for updates.
SU Trip: The SU Trip will not travel to Rostrevor on Friday. The situation will be reviewed on Friday evening and Saturday morning to see if it is possible to travel on Saturday morning. Pupils should check the Google Classroom for details.
RSD Boarding: RSD boarding will remain open and staffed as normal. Arrangements are being put in place to ensure that meals are provided.
Year 12 Pupils
The Food Technology practicals scheduled for tomorrow will be rearranged.
Year 13 & 14 Pupils
Music Trip: The planned music trip to Belfast has been cancelled.
Pupils who attend classes in South West College: These pupils should note that that lessons for them tomorrow will be delivered online.
Year 14 Pupils
The closing date for Dilworth applications has now been extended to 2.00pm on Monday 27th January 2025.
It is anticipated that school will resume on Monday morning (27th January 2025) at 8.45am with the normal assemblies.
