Senior House Badminton Competition 2018

SENIOR HOUSE BADMINTON REPORT 2018

There was a very pleasing turn out for senior house badminton which took place on 10th Jan. Initially, for the female singles, Nicholson/Dungannon’s Joanne Shaw dominated against both Bullingbrook/ Tyrone and Beresford / Charlemount winning 11-7 and 11-6 respectively. However, she went on to meet her match in Mountjoy/Ranfurly’s Joyce Liu who won 11-4.  Mountjoy continued their winning streak by also beating Bullingbrook/ Tyrone but were unsuccessful against Beresford / Charlemount‘s Ellie To. The female singles competition finished two wins each for ND, MR and BC.

Beresford / Charlemount’s James Wilson started off the males’ singles competing against BT’s Isaac Li in an intense match but Isaac fought through; the final score being 11-5 to BT. James went on to play Mountjoy/Ranfurly’s  Andrew Graham and succeeded with a confident victory.  BC then took on Nicholson/Dungannon’s Haydon Kirk in a close match with Haydon coming out as victor. Bullingbrook/ Tyrone‘s Isaac Li followed this by dominating the next two games against ND and MR. The male singles competition finished with a close match between Andrew Graham and Haydon Kirk with a final score of 11-10 to ND. Bullingbrook/ Tyrone finished the male singles as victors with ND in second position.

BC’s David Saygi and Sophie Wilson made up an excellent partnership for the mixed doubles winning each of their matches and thus became the mixed doubles victors. They were followed by BT won won two of their matches and MR who won match against ND.

For the second year in a row it was a tightly contested competition for first place between BT & BC but this year Beresford / Charlemount took first place with Bullingbrook/ Tyrone in second, ND third and MR forth.

We would like to thank all the competitors for taking part and the assistance of all the umpires and report writers who helped create another successful house badminton competition.
