On the evening of 14th March, Dion Di Maio (Year 13) and Catherine Boyd (Year 12) competed against twenty-three other students from twelve different schools across Northern Ireland in ‘The Edgar Graham LLB BL Memorial Public Speaking Competition’. It was held in the Long Gallery Parliament Buildings in Stormont, by the Ulster Women’s Unionist Council; their aim to let the young people of Northern Ireland voice their opinions and concerns in topics that mean a lot to them. Catherine spoke on the topic ‘Media; saint or sinner?’ and Dion; ‘Generation Z; the most troublesome of them all?’
The girls had to prepare a five minute speech on their chosen topics, with the aim to impress the adjudicator and intrigue the audience watching. Both girls performed extremely well on the night, doing a fantastic job in representing the school. Congratulations to both students on making the most of this great opportunity.
