The Mystery of the Christmas Star

Year 12 Journeyed back over 2000 years to Bethlehem (in Armagh Planetarium Dome Theatre) seeking to discover a scientific explanation for the star the wise men followed to find the baby Jesus.  They explored the ideas of comets, meteorites, conjunctions and eclipses to define the star that led the wise men to Bethlehem (and ticked off a bit of the GCSE list!).

They also attended a show explaining one theory, the famous Big Bang, for the formation of the Universe and the proposed methodology from protons to the Universe and all it contains, launched their own crafts in ’The Mars Landing’ and had a tour of the planetarium.

Key thought for the day – ‘There’s a little bit of stardust in us all!’
