The Year 8 practised regularly on Tuesday afternoons and even the odd Saturday morning. Several had clearly played before but many were beginners so it was after the November half-term that they started to play competitively against other schools. At this level the matches are all 12-a-side so usually we had enough for an U12 A and B match but sometimes even a C match as well. We had some success against Enniskillen and Banbridge when Adam Nixon, Charlie Espie and Samuel Arnold scored many tries but we also had some tough days against Sullivan, Wallace and Friends’. The final matches of the season as always were against Rainey ES in Magherafelt where the Arnold Shield was up for grabs but unfortunately this was not to be our year. Hopefully though the boys are now well set to make the jump to full sided games in September.
