The RSD Swim Team of Rebecca Graham, Emma Chambers and Miranda Hazelton (Year 8), Jayne Courtney and Matthew Moan (Year 9), Annabel Davidson (Year 10,) Sarah Wilson, Hannah Courtney and James Moan (Year 11) travelled to Bangor Aquatic Centre to take part in the Swim Ulster Schools Cup championship on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st October, competing against 100+ schools and with around 100 entries in each event.
Year 8 swimmers led the way on Saturday with an energetic performance from all, with particular praise for Emma Chambers in qualifying for the finals and achieving 5th place in the 50m Breast Stroke. She has qualified with her times to represent RSD and Ulster in Dublin at the Irish Finals in February 2019.
Sunday saw another great day of swimming from our Key Stage 3 & 4 pupils, who were full of determination and energy, reaching personal goals and displaying great sportsmanship. Particular praise goes to Matthew Moan for achieving 4th place in the 100m Freestyle and to Emma Chambers for 3rd place in the 200m IM in their own year groups.
“The pupils were a delight to be with over the two days and a credit to RSD, displaying exemplary manners, appreciation to all the volunteers who made the event happen and encouraging each other all the way.” Mrs W Chambers
