Dion attends Emil Dale Academy workshop

Year 13 pupil Dion Di Maio was successful in obtaining a place at a workshop held in the Grand Opera House on 20th January. The workshop was created by Emil Dale Academy, a school located in London that is dedicated to training pupils for careers in musical theatre.

Workshops were carried out to showcase the different disciplines required for theatre work with professional West End stars taking lead of the different groups. Tim Evans (who was involved in West End productions of Les Miserables, Matilda and Mary Poppins) held a workshop based on the musical aspects of theatre, while Matt Stevens (the dance captain for The Bodyguard and Cabaret) taught the dance side of theatre- teaching everyone there a dance from The Bodyguard UK Tour.

Congratulations to Dion for, out of hundreds of attendees, being one of six from the Belfast workshop who has been given a callback. This means that later this month, she will be travelling to London to audition for the Academy.
