One of the first tasks for the new Charities Committee, consisting of 26 enthusiastic pupils led by Mrs Matthews and Mrs Stewart, was to organise this year’s Shoebox Appeal, which is aimed at helping those in need this Christmas. The Shoebox Appeal, now an RSD tradition, provides pupils of all ages with the opportunity to get involved with helping people who aren’t as fortunate as us.  This year an astonishing 180 shoe boxes were collected throughout the school; this stands out as the highest record for RSD charities to date and we hope to continue this success in the future.

On 9 October, we were honoured to welcome back Mr Chris Wright to Assembly to present him with the boxes. This handover marks the start of their long journey to Romania.

On Christmas Day more than 180 of the poorest Romanian people will receive a box with stationery, toys and daily essentials which we take for granted every day; therefore on behalf of all charities committee members, we’d like to give everyone who took part in helping us a massive thanks as we couldn’t have achieved this without you!
