The School Assembly Hall packed for the One Way event on Saturday

Between 3-15 November the Scripture Union in RSD held their “Shine” outreach event with the help of “Crown Jesus Ministries”. The two weeks were jam packed with different events for all of the school, including a lunch time spent with the beatboxer Harry Bruce and a master class in off-road biking from the eight times Irish Champion “Colin Bruce” who demostrated his skill with a daring jump over 15 teachers. Both  events included interviews with the special guests in which they spoke about trying to live out their faith in their very different career paths. As well as the larger outreach events, the Crown Jesus Ministries team led many RE classes, took a full school assembly and led two senior SU sessions.

The two weeks of activities came to a head with the “One Way Shine event” on Saturday 15 November. 300 pupils from RSD, Drumglass High School and The Integrated College Dungannon came together for a night of great fun. There were numerous guest performers (from break dancers to actors!) and the night finished with one teacher being “gunged” in the gunge tank.  Pupils had voted and when the votes were counted Mrs Kerr had to take on the challenge! The night was a great success, and a great tribute to the hard work put in by Mrs Jackson and the other SU teachers, the SU CommitteE and Crown Jesus Ministries.
