On the 9^th December the Sixth Form Art classes set off early on Friday morning from Portadown train station in order to travel to Dublin to visit several Art galleries. This included the Douglas Hyde Gallery to see Kathy Prendergast’s map work and The National Gallery of Ireland, where we viewed the annual Hennessy Portrait Prize competition. We also visited the Irish Museum of Modern Art where we had the incredible opportunity to visit an exhibition of the work of Lucian Freud, the world renowned artist and grandson of the famous psychologist Sigmund Freud. We saw many very impressive intaglio prints, plates and paintings by the artist. The prints were particularly interesting as we had all recently completed a series of our own intagilio prints at Seacourt Print Workshop.

Everyone really enjoyed seeing the work and the trip gave all students some great inspiration for future pages of our own work, as well as an hour or two of shopping in Dublin at the end of the day!
