FT students have recipe for success

Congratulations to Judith McLean UVI who, this year, was the winner of the British Nutrition Foundation GCE Home Economics Award for Northern Ireland.

Judith gained the award as a result of her excellent AS Home Economics exam papers which she sat in June 2010.  Judith and her FT teacher, Mrs McMullan travelled to London to receive the Award from Her Royal Highness Princess Anne on Tuesday 23rd November.  Both Judith and Mrs McMullan received framed certificates along with a £100 prize for Judith.  Mrs McMullan received a £200 prize for school.

Also congratulations to Julie Moore who has been placed 3rd in Northern Ireland in ‘A’ Level Home Economics for 2010.  This is a tremendous achievement considering the number of pupils who study the subject at ‘A’ Level throughout the country.  Her FT teacher Mrs McCarthy and Head of Department Mrs McMullan are delighted by this excellent achievement and wish Julie every success in the future as she studies her Food Technology degree at Loughery College.
