Year 13’s new arrival, Emily Turkington, has had hugely successful year in European show jumping. Competing for the Ireland team in the summer, she took part in two events, jumping fences at 1.45m against a large field of competitors.
At Barbizon, in France, she won one event, came 3rd in another and was 8th in the grand prix. At Chevenez, Switzerland, more success quickly followed as she ranked in an amazing two wins, a silver medal and a 4th and 5th place over five events.
She was particularly happy with these results because it was her first time taking Allies Diamond Boy to an international event and he performed extremely well.
But she wasn’t finished yet: in the last week of November Emily was in Holland, where her victory in the grand prix with Allies Diamond Boy means that she has now won that competition three years in a row.
This weekend, from the 2rd of December through to the 5th, she’ll be back in Holland again, this time at Hengelo. We wish her the best of luck, but somehow, looking at her list of results, I don’t think she’ll need it much!
