Well done to Sophie Steenson, Gideon Dilworth, Shannon Kennedy and Adam Irwin who competed in the “Top of the Bench” chemistry competition held in QUB on Thursday 23 January. The team was one of 16 answering questions on subjects like general chemical knowledge, chemical symbols, apparatus and famous scientists. Although we scored full marks on safety issues, balancing equations and chemistry Dingbats, unfortunately we did not win, but we did finish in the top half of the field. This was a very enjoyable evening and the first time it has been held in a number of years. We will be back next year when perhaps we can do even better!
