Today would have been the date of our annual Sponsored Walk event in Dungannon Park, so instead we are celebrating it together with a whole school Rainbow Record Breakers event: “Rainbow Run Walk or Cycle”.
Today there will be NO Google Classroom!
As you know, staff sang (or screeched… !) their way through our ‘We’ll Be There for You’ Friends parody a month or so ago and to date have raised £2940 for South Tyrone Hospital Comfort Fund. This is absolutely fantastic and a huge thank you goes to all who have donated and helped in any way with this.
The second part of the fundraising effort now is over to you guys! Instead of our sponsored walk we have set up a virtual ‘Rainbow run, walk or cycle’ today (to tie in with our RSD Rainbow Record Breaker Go Fund Me page). There are two important things you need to know about this.
1. As mentioned there will be NO GOOGLE CLASSROOM on Wednesday 17th June.
2. To take part in the virtual run, walk or cycle we are encouraging you to:
(a) go outside on your GC free day and run, walk or cycle by yourself or with your family (wearing something brightly coloured to link in with our ‘rainbow’ theme)
(b) take a picture of yourself (and family) while you are out
(c) post your picture in the assignment created in your PASTORAL GOOGLE CLASSROOM (these will then be shared on Social Media
(d) make a donation to the ‘RSD Rainbow Record Breaker’ Go Fund Me campaign https://www.gofundme.com/f/rsd-rainbow-record-breakers (if you have already donated please definitely do not feel pressure to donate again!)
We are hopeful that we can all catch some good weather today (and if it’s not I’m sure we could still get out at some stage and enjoy). We would really like you to take a midweek break and get your head cleared from school work and enjoy your family and surroundings.
It is always important to remember the ‘Take 5’ message: Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give. By having this day we are doing a little bit of all these things for ourselves. We really hope you enjoy your ‘day off’ and benefit from it. Happy ‘Rainbow run, walk or cycle’ fundraising!
Our PFTA are kindly planning to award prizes for the best-dressed etc so it would be fantastic to have everyone getting involved- we always see such great ideas from our pupils!
There will be five £20 ‘One 4 All’ vouchers up for grabs. In order to be in with a chance you need to post your photos in the pastoral class ‘assignment’. This will then be judged.
The categories are as follows:
1. Best Outfit – the more colourful the better.
2. Funniest Photograph
3. Most colourfully dressed animal companion
4. Rainbow Family – the family who have made the most effort in ensuring all the colours of the rainbow are represented.
5. Longest distance walked, ran or cycled – photographic evidence required
Go for it… enjoy a nice activity towards the end of term! Have a lovely day everyone.
