On Saturday 12 November six pupils from RSD travelled to Ballymena Swimming Pool to compete in the Ulster Grammar Schools competition.

Callum McKeown (Year 9) competed as a junior boy in the 50m butterfly and backstroke, and as one of the youngest competitors in the age category he finished in a very creditable 18th position.

Jonathan Shrestha (Year 10) competed in the 50m butterfly and backcrawl and in a highly competitive age group, he did well to finish 8th in both events narrowly missing out on the finals.

In the intermediate section Tiffany McDonald swam in the 50m back crawl and the 100m IM races. Tiffany was also one of the youngest in her age group and did extremely well to finish 15th in the backcrawl and 13th in the IM.

In the senior section RSD was represented by Tiffany’s sister Alex , and Erin and Calum Bain. Alex McDonald swam in the 50m breaststroke and butterfly and in both events she reached the final and finished 4th.

Erin participated in the 50m breaststroke and the 100m IM and was fastest in both events in the heats. Two more great swims in the finals enabled her to take home two gold medals.

Calum competed in the 50m freestyle and butterfly and like his twin sister he performed excellently in the heats to enter his two finals in first position and eventually secured two gold medals.

Well done to all six swimmers!
