On Tuesday 27th September all of Year 8 took part in Your School Your Business, an event which aimed to provide pupils with an insight into the practical day-to-day running of school.
Pupils learned about the teaching and non-teaching roles in school, and they carried out interviews of the bursar, the receptionist, the caretaker, the groundsman, matron and the school cook in order to find out about the jobs which keep the school functioning on a daily basis.
Pupils were also encouraged to think about how they can contribute to school, how to improve it and take a active role in its running. In particular, the whole-school issue of healthy living was considered, and pupils worked together in groups to create a healthy living campaign and present it to the rest of Year 8.
The event, organised by Young Enterprise NI, was a great success and was enjoyed by the Year 8 pupils involved, as well as the lower-sixth pupils who helped out by acting as tutors.
